EMPLOYEE HEALTH SERVICES | TOBACCO FREE TOOLS AND RESOURCES

JMH’s tobacco free policy applies to all JMH facilities and vehicles; we do not require anyone to stop using tobacco. However, if you are ready to stop, JMH provides the following tools and resources to you.

HealthMatters

  • Becoming Smoke-Free Health Coaching clicking this link will launch a new window for employees, spouses/same sex domestic partners and retirees who are in a JMH medical plan. You can call to request a health coach at 866-270-7403.
  • Online healthy living programs clicking this link will launch a new window for all JMH employees; also available to spouses/same sex domestic partners and retirees who are in a JMH medical plan.

Nicotine replacement therapy

  • Prescription medications – Nicotine replacement medications prescribed by a doctor are covered under the JMH medical plan after you pay a copyament. Prescriptions may be filled:
    • Through Express-Scripts clicking this link will launch a new window home delivery for a 90-day supply,
    • Through retail pharmacies such as Walgreens, Longs, Rite-Aid, etc. for a 30-day supply, or,
    • Through the John Muir Medical Center Pharmacy, Walnut Creek, the Diablo Professional Pharmacies and John Muir at Rossmoor Pharmacy. Please allow 3-5 business days for your prescription to be filled by our internal pharmacies.
    • Over-the-counter medications - You can obtain over-the-counter medication from your drug store or other sources and bring your receipt to Employee Health Services for reimbursement.

External smoking cessation programs and information

JMH smoking cessation assistance and information

  • JMH Community Health and Wellness clicking this link will launch a new window
  • JMH Cancer Institute offers information for people diagnosed with various types of cancer. They can also discuss the risks of using tobacco and the benefits of quitting before you receive a diagnosis.
  • JMH Lung Health Services provides outpatient support services for patients diagnosed with lung disease and their families.

  • The goal of the Tobacco Free Nurses clicking this link will launch a new window organization is to help decrease the tobacco use among nurses
  • The Tobacco Free Nurses Leadership project is a collaborative effort between the UCLA School of Nursing and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, with funding from the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center
