Heartsaver cards (BLS) are required for:
All healthcare providers who work in the Medical Center but do not provide direct care to patients.
Non-healthcare staff who work in departments which treat patients.
Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS for HCP) cards are required for:
All healthcare providers who provide direct care to patients.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) providers cards are required for:
Registered nurses who work the Emergency Department, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Critical Care Units, Cardiac Care Unit, Angiography/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, Cardiac Rehab, Non-Invasive Cardiology and Endoscopy.
In addition, JMH requires that registered nurses who work in Pediatrics or Emergency Department take:
Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS)
Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course.
